Sunday mornings spent chatting at a cute cafe while indulging in a cup of coffee is a favorite pastime of ours. Watching people come and go while enjoying the smell and chocolatey taste of perfectly roasted and brewed coffee is the perfect ratio of relaxation and intrigue. It’s a great way to get a feel for a new place, which is exactly how we found ourseleves at Andytown Coffee Roasters last Sunday. Located in the Outer Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco, Andytown is mellow and unassuming, much like the neighborhood it inhabits. I adore this part of town for it’s laidback beach vibe, the chilly Pacific air, and the adorable pastel homes that line the streets. Parking at times is scarce, but walking through the surrounding neighborhood is part of the charm. We opted, as we often do, for black coffee. I was suprised to find that only batch brew was available. It seems they lean more heavily toward espresso based drinks, most notably their “snowy plover”: a carbonated water, espresso, and whipped cream concoction that the internet is orgasming over.
We snagged seats at the table in the front and chatted while enjoying the people-watching and respite from the chilly air outside. The cafe is super dog friendly, so be prepared to “Awww” at the dogs waiting patiently out front for their owners. The interior is small, but turnover is pretty rapid. They have a second larger location opening soon at 3629 Taraval which we’re excited to check out next time we’re in the neighborhood!
